Pricing on gut feel is costing wellness operators more than they think

Why under-pricing and over-discounting persist — and the fastest way to break the cycle with data.

By Resonance Health Labs

Most operators know they should benchmark. The failure mode is not laziness — it is that local competitive data is fragmented across websites, booking widgets, Instagram promos, and short-lived Meta ads.

The hidden tax

When you price by intuition in a crowded catchment, you usually do one of two things:

  • Under-price high-trust services because you are anchoring to a discounter you should not be competing with on price at all.
  • Over-discount premium pathways because the top of funnel is noisy, so you reach for promos instead of tightening avatar and offer.

A pragmatic fix

Start with a defensible band for your modality and city tier, then test one ladder change at a time (intro, core package, annual). Personalised intelligence exists precisely so you are not guessing which competitors actually shape buyer expectations in your ring of suburbs.
